Be Prepared

Despite the monotony of day after day 100-degree temperatures summer is actually going by quickly. We are already into August! Vacations are wrapping up, back-to-school shopping is happening and, Lord willing, cooler temperatures are on the way! August is the month our families prepare for things to return to normal. The same is true for the church.

In August our various ministries that have been on summer break are preparing to ramp up in September. We will be hosting a Ministry Sunday on September 17th to introduce all the different ministries in the church, along with their respective leaders, to the congregation. This will be a great opportunity for everyone, but especially for those new to the church, to get plugged in!

The Men’s Monday Night Ministry resumes on September 4th with a church-wide Pig Roast and Hamburger cookout! This event is always a big hit, and you don’t want to miss it. In fact, this is a great opportunity for you to invite family, friends, and neighbors to join us!

The women’s Bible study will begin on the 1st Sunday in October. Please keep your eyes open for a sign-up.

Do you have a Hurricane Preparedness Kit? You should! There are many lists available on the internet to help you prepare. They always include things like water, food, medical supplies, cell phone and charger, a flashlight, and a Swiss Army Knife!

May I suggest some steps we can use to Spiritually prepare for the next season?

First, let’s prepare to depend on God. With many necessary changes ahead of us that will be sure to stretch us in many ways, we are going to need to be ready to depend on God.

Second, we need to be prepared and willing to change. We cannot grow without changing. Let’s prepare ourselves for change.

Third, let’s be prepared to go where God wants us to go!  I believe churches often miss on God’s blessings by not being willing to go where He wants to lead.

Finally, let’s be prepared to depend on each other more than ever! It’s been a great summer so far for the church. There is a sweet spirit in worship and more brothers and sisters in Christ to share it with.

I’m so excited about what God is doing in our midst! And…I’m preparing for what comes next!

    God bless, Pastor Rob
