CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

Can you believe it?  Easter has come and gone, and we are racing towards summer!  However, as we leave April, I want to thank all of you that were part of the huge success that was Easter weekend.  I was moved by the reverent feeling of the Good Friday Service.  I was stunned at the number of folks that came to enjoy the Resurrection Eggstravaganza.  I was so glad the youth set up nearly 200 chairs for the Sunrise Service because we needed most of them!  I was overwhelmed by the attendance at the Easter Family Worship Service.  Incredible!  Thanks be to God…and thanks to all of you who contributed!

This article is being written the day after the 2nd Annual Gumbo Cook-Off.  What a great time!  Thanks to our judges John Mayes, Karen Mayes, and Jay Righter, and congratulations to our new champion and runners-up:

    1st place – Daniel Kitts

2nd place and the People’s Choice Award – Steve Balistreri Jr.

    3rd place – John Hatner

Now, let’s turn our attention to May!

As most of you know, I will be on Sabbatical for the entire month.  Gerda and I are going to take this opportunity to slow down and relax together.  We are very thankful for this awesome gift of time from the church!  Thank you!  We don’t have plans to travel much apart from heading to Ft. Worth to visit our son and his wife so you can expect to see us in church most of the month.  We will be blessed by the three men who will be filling the pulpit in my absence.  Please pray for them!

A mission team from our church will be heading to Puerto Rico, from May 8th – 18th.  The team includes Pastor Cory, Robert Weldon, Billy Crawford, Zach Schewe, and Ethan VanDever.  This will be the second trip from our church to Puerto Rico and I am excited to see what the Lord is going to do with this trip!  Please pray for them!!!!

Also in May is the church’s annual budget meeting.  On the evening of the 21st of May at 5:30 pm the members of the church will meet to vote on the budget for May 1, 2023, through April 30, 2024.  As you all know, the current economy is hurting all of us, including the church.  There are many difficult decisions we need to make together as we learn to do ministry in this current economic environment.  Member participation in the important decisions of the church is vital!  Please prioritize attending the business meeting.

VBS is almost here!  As of this writing, we have 96 kids registered.  Several of the classes are already full but there remains room in Kindergarten, 4th grade, and 5th/6th grade.  Don’t delay registering or signing up to volunteer!

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem (VBS), and in all Judea (Clara Springs Baptist Encampment) and Samaria (Puerto Rico), and to the end of the earth (Senegal).

    God Bless, Pastor Rob
