September.
The calendar shows that summer is over.
I wish the thermometer did, too!
The ministries in the church that have been on summer break are kicking off a new season.
On September 1st there will be a church-wide Pig Roast that marks the start of both the Men's and Women's Ministries Fall
Season. I am excited about the Fellowship time and even more excited to return to meeting with the Men on
Monday Nights.
We don't have a Fall theme, per se, but you will notice a Fall Focus. The focus for the church will be
Discipleship and Evangelism (missions).
From January to June, we studied the first 3 chapters of Genesis
and looked back on some of the foundational doctrines of the church. This Fall we will be revisiting the
purposes of the church.
I've mentioned three of them so far in this article, Fellowship, Discipleship and
Evangelism.
These three, along with Worship and Care Ministries, are why the Body of Christ exists.
God's plan for a dying and hurting world is His church.
Since the church is God's plan for the world, He has equipped the church to carry out it's purpose.
Ephesians 4:11(NKJV), And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some
evangelists, and some pastors and teachers.
These varied roles remind me of just how important each of you is to the success of God's church. The
church needs all of us! We can't have a church of all pastors or all teachers or all prophets or all apostles or
all evangelists.
That wouldn't be a church, it would be club!
God has gifted His church with a variety of people. He has gifted His church with you!
Let that sink in and then meet me at the altar to pray on how we can better live out our purpose and role in
the church!
God bless, Pastor Rob
