I have had enough of summer! Come on Fall! Imagine what it will be like when the first cold front comes through! I can hardly wait! I know that this heat will end soon, and the seasons will change.
Genesis 8:22… While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
We can count on things changing. We can also count on some things never changing!
Malachi 3:6… “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
Hebrews 13:8… Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Let’s turn the calendar to September and embrace the changes that come with the Fall season. School is back in session. Football season is starting. Baseball play-offs and the World Series are coming. Pumpkin Spice is already being sold at Starbucks. All of those things bring a comfortable rhythm to our lives.
Let’s also embrace those things that do not change. In the midst of so many changes that are not as comfortable or certain as the ones I mentioned above, let’s cling to the Lord who does not change. The answer to every issue is this; Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
The gospel does not change. There is only one way to heaven, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This means turning from our sin and trusting in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. His shed blood paid the price of our sins. Our faith in the unchanging Lord and His unchanging gospel should lead us to repentance and a changed, transformed life. More and more I am led to believe that there is no such thing as an unchanged Christian. Faith in the Lord changes you! The indwelling of the Holy Spirit changes you!
Matthew 24:35… Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
The Word of God does not change, ever. That is really good news because here is what the Word of God says:
Romans 6:23… For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
