Wow! It’s amazing how much damage hurricane Beryl caused.
For a Cat 1 hurricane the impact on our community is concerning.
Most, if not all of us, lost trees and fences. Some suffered much worse with trees coming down on homes and vehicles.
However, the worst damage was experienced by all…loss of electricity!
I was pleased that power to the main building was restored relatively quickly, and we were able to minister to our community with a free meal, a place to cool down and charge electronics and even a water slide for the stir-crazy kids!
However, it would be nearly a week before the power would be restored to the office building.
With the promise of more challenging weather ahead I think prudence dictates that we take this time to better prepare.
In the back of every chair in the sanctuary is a “Welcome and Update Contact Card.” This is the information we use to keep our Directory up to date. Please, if you haven’t updated your contact information recently, take this time to do so.
It’s how we can care for one another.
Here at the church, we will be looking at our food and water supply so that we are ready to minister to the community should that be needed. We all should be doing the same in our homes.
You can also expect conversations at a Church Business Meeting about obtaining enough generator power to ensure our ability to minister to Seabrook.
Mark 12:30-31 - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Preparations in August are for more than just hurricanes and floods.
We are also preparing for a busy Fall.
New Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies are gearing up.
Children and youth are getting ready to go back to school.
How are we preparing to love the Lord better? Worship better? Serve better?
Something to pray about!
God bless, Pastor Rob
