1 Corinthians 12:12-20
One Body with Many Members
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body— Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.
It has been a difficult few weeks. I am grieving and so is the church. We are, as the Bible says, one body. The good news, however, is that the Bible also says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
My family and I need to thank all of you for your unwavering support during Gerda’s long cancer battle. There was not a single moment when we felt alone! You all made sure that we had what we needed when we needed it, and that Gerda felt loved! Thank you!
Since we are grieving together it is only fitting that we celebrate together as well. Gerda’s wishes included a Celebration of Life that is truly celebratory! Please join us on Oct 19 at noon at the church to celebrate and enjoy a meal together. All are invited to come and church members are being asked to bring a side dish or a dessert.
Our annual Fall Community Outreach is on Oct 26. The Candy and Craft and Art Night is both a great opportunity to minister to our community and a great opportunity to volunteer to serve in building the Kingdom of God. The volunteer sign-up is located in the hallway of the main building.
I love you all!
God bless, Pastor Rob
