Summer is flying by!

    Summer is flying by! 

    This year's VBS was beyond successful!  Ashley VanDerbeck, our VBS Director, along with an absolute Host of volunteers, both adult and youth, managed a week of Twist and Turns with almost 100 kids!  Many decisions for Christ were made and several followed in baptism at the Family Night Celebration.  For me, the joy of watching this Body of Believers work together, each from their unique Spiritual Gifts, is beyond words.  There is nothing more beautiful than watching God work through you all!  Thank you!

    Our youth will be heading off to Camp at Clara Springs, LA in two groups beginning on July 16th.  I am excited about the growth in the youth group and am thankful for the privilege of praying for them as they go to Camp.  Please join me in praying for God to speak clearly into their lives!  Also, pray for Pastor Cory and the adults that will be with them.

    July is a month of milestones.  The 2nd of July will mark the 23rd anniversary of my ministry as your pastor.  It is also our 35th wedding anniversary!  All the Glory to God for both of those!!!

    However, the most important milestone in July is celebrated on the 4th.

    The Declaration of Independence begins this way:

    The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

    Do you see it?  “Nature’s God”  “Creator”  The founding Father’s, in full unity (the second word of the Declaration) acknowledged God as the center of our Nation.  That view of God’s position in our nation is fading and soon, if we don’t stand, will be gone.  When that happens, we will no longer be free.

    Galatians 5:1… For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.This is the final line of the Declaration of Independence:

    And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

    Church, as the Day approaches, I am looking forward to standing firmly on the Word of God with you!
