We Have Work To Do!

Acts 1:8… But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

In November of 2006 seven members of FBC Seabrook traveled to Senegal to share the gospel.  That trip was our first as an “Acts 1:8” church.

I believe that Acts 1:8 is the outline of mission work for all churches; Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the end of the earth.

The church of Jesus Christ is uniquely empowered for this work.

Tomorrow morning Wayne Stewart and I leave for another trip to Senegal.  We are fulfilling the commitment we made as a church two years ago to make Bethlehem Land the focus of our International Missions Program.  I’m excited and encouraged that we are involved in yet another effort in Senegal.  We have invested in the lives of people on the other side of the world for almost two decades.  Only God knows how many people have come to saving faith because, in part, of the obedience of a small church in Seabrook, TX.  I know that when Revelation 7:9 takes place there will be some of our friends among the multitude!

Revelation 7:9… After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

Our mission fields are Seabrook and the local community, Texas, North America and the world. The focus of our time, effort and finances should be equally applied between these four areas.

    We have work to do!

The newest effort from our church locally is Upward Sports.  We will be offering the community a sports program that serves as an outreach.  Currently, 5,000 churches are reaching 7,000 000 or more kids with the gospel.  In the next few weeks, you will be asked to consider your involvement in this local mission.  There are opportunities for everyone to be part of the Great Commission!

February, of course, is the month we host the annual Valentine’s Banquet.  A sign-up list has already been placed on the bulletin board in the church hallway.  This event is always fun and well attended.  I’m looking forward to seeing you there!

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.  Acts 2:42

What is the church supposed to do?

Missions, discipleship, fellowship, prayer, and worship!

    I’ll see you at church!

    God bless, Pastor Rob
